Advantages of Writing Your Will
1) Protecting Your Assets and Loved Ones
* By providing for them in the way you choose rather than letting the Law decide i.e. Distribution Act 1958 (amended in 1997)
2) Without a Will, under the Distribution Act 1958, certain people are not recognized :-
* Partners
* Illegitimate Children
* Step Children
* Aged relative or others dependent on you
3) You exercise your right to appoint executor of your choice whom you trust to administer your estate
4) No family contention would arise over who should administer your estate
With a will, you can:
• Decide who shall be your beneficiaries;
• Determine what asset goes to each beneficiary and when received;
• Specify which asset should be used to pay your debts first;
• Avoid administration bond;
• Choose the guardian who is going to take care of your children; and
• Ensure that your children would have sufficient maintenance, health care and education fund.
